Resumé

Héctor Tavárez is an environmental economist with experience in interdisciplinary studies. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Idaho and a master’s degree from the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez. He has worked on various topics related to the environment and agriculture, including: (1) economic valuation of ecosystem services, recreation opportunities, and water for domestic consumption; (2) the effects of land use changes on agriculture; (3) willingness to pay for differentiated agricultural products; and (4) economic evaluation of soil conservation practices in agricultural production. He has served on the board of directors of the Puerto Rico Economists Association and the Caribbean Food Crops Society.
